William “Bill” Powell, 66, of Winterset, passed away after a long battle with cancer on August 22, 2022 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Bill was born on January 30, 1956 in Sioux City to Harold and Phyllis (Zeitler) Powell. He graduated from Sioux City West High School in 1974 and eventually went on to obtain his bachelors in business degree. Bill also dedicated his time by serving his country in the Army from 1987 to 1991. In his free time, Bill enjoyed cooking good meals that often included cheesecake, homemade salsa and lasagna. He was a great dancer and always loved to dance at all occasions. Bill loved to celebrate the many holidays with his family, especially Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Overall, Bill loved his family and getting to spend time with them. Bill is survived by his partner, Jerry England of Winterset; daughter, Amanda (Scott) Capps of Peru; grandchildren, Austin and Spencer Capps of Peru; sister, Lori (Chris) Weskamp of Lincoln NE; nieces, Danielle (Jesse) Ludwick, and Alison (Juaquin) Vera; and nephew, Garret Weskamp. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Powell and Phyllis Powell-Johnston. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. A graveside service with military honors will take place at 3:00 p.m., Monday, August 29, 2022 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa.
