Virginia Albert, 92, passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day, May 13th, 2018 at Kavanagh House Hospice in Des Moines surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 5:00 on the 19th of May at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home McCalley Chapel in Adel. Graveside service and inurnment will be at the Van Meter Cemetery. Virginia was born on November 27th, 1925 in Winterset, Iowa to Herman and Nora (Armstrong) Jensen. She worked for Meredith Publishing Corporation for many years in the finance department. Virginia enjoyed being with her family and friends and was an avid golfer. She was a fanatic ISU basketball fan and an excellent candy and cookie maker. Her favorite pastime was going to coffee every morning at the Van Meter Legion. She is survived by her daughters, Dianne Edwards of Van Meter and Lynn (Bill) Heggen of Des Moines; grandchildren, Erin (Eric Keeney) Hart, Steve (Deidrah) Edwards, John (Marie Gernes) Heggen, Tom (Jessica) Heggen; seven great-grandchildren, Abby, Cooper, Callie, Robby, Nora, Will and Jay; sister-in-law, Millie Jensen; step-son, Mick (Marty) Albert and step-son-in-law, Curt Thomas. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Albert; her parents; siblings, Margaret Bell, Ruby Bennett, Robert Jensen, John Jensen and Maxine Gillihan and step-daughter, Patty Thomas. The family wishes to thank the excellent nurses and staff at Methodist West Hospital and Kavanagh House Hospice.
