Born in Davenport, Iowa on April 19, 1946, to Woodrow and Dorothy (Behm) Trede. Vicki was the third of four girls. She spent her childhood and early years in Davenport, where she worked at Iowa-Illinois Electric. In 1981 she met Philip Ealy, and they were married on January 19, 1982, on a memorably cold day filled with love and joy. Phil had promised to show her the country, and did, living in six different states. Along the way they raised their two daughters, Megan, and Amanda. Vicki’s greatest joys in life were her family, music, reading, gardening, and crafting. Her strength was present in everything she faced, including several moves, beating colon cancer, remodeling an 1850’s farmhouse, and through her battle with Alzheimer’s.
Vicki is survived by her husband Phil, daughters Megan (Nixa, Missouri) and Amanda (Des Moines, Iowa), and sisters Dona Hendrickson (Grinnell, Iowa) and Gayle Trede (Mount Pleasant, Iowa), several sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, sister Sandy Jamison, and brother-in-law Jack Hendrickson.
Her family wishes to thank the staff at Edencrest – Beaverdale and the staff and volunteers at WesleyLife Hospice for their wonderful care during Vicki’s last year. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or WesleyLife (wesleylife.org/foundation). Vicki will be greatly missed and forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
