Velma Gardner

Velma M. Gardner Tucson, AZ (formerly of Jefferson, IA) Velma Marie Gardner, 93, passed away at Hospice Family Care, April 22, 2011. Per Velma's wishes she was cremated and no formal services are planned. Graveside services will be held at Scranton Cemetery, Scranton, IA. Velma was born November 9, 1917 in Scranton, IA and spent her early years in Scranton and Jefferson. She retired from the Jefferson JC Penney's store. In later years moved to Tucson AZ. Velma was preceded in death by an infant son, her husband Claude L. Gardner, companion, Tom Felton and parents Henry and Nellie Thompson Smith. Velma is survived by one daughter Claudia Johansen of American Canyon, CA, god-daughter Roxanne Woodward of Lake Havasu, AZ. and extended family in Arizona and Iowa. Memorial may be sent to Hastings Funeral Home, in Jefferson, in her name.
