Twyla Jackson, 88, of Winterset, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and unconditional love.
Twyla was born on April 12, 1938, in Winterset, Iowa, to Lloyd and Blanche (Howell) Hoeness. She lived a life centered on family, friendship, and service to others. A 1957 graduate of Winterset High School, she married the love of her life, Larry Jackson, on May 22 of that same year. Together they raised three children and built a life filled with cherished memories, steadfast devotion, and deep roots in the Winterset community they proudly called home for most of their lives.
Twyla found joy in the simple blessings of life. She loved camping, traveling, family vacations, gardening, playing cards, and spending time outdoors. She had a special affection for animals, especially her ornery cat, Tinker, and enjoyed sharing treats and laughter with loved ones over a trip to Frostie’s.
A faithful and active member of her church, Twyla was involved in the church sewing group and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She had a gift for making others feel welcome and cared for. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and compassionate heart touched countless lives. She rarely met a stranger and believed there was good in everyone.
She is survived by her sons, Jeff (Donna) Jackson and Eric (Kristi) Jackson; grandchildren, Blue Jackson, Hunter (Mackenzie) Jackson, Bailey (Cody) McBrayer, Angela (Rodney) Hager, Andrea (Kevin) Calderon, Ethan (Bri) Jackson, Abby (Jason) Brown, and Brandon (Corina) Jacobs; great-grandchildren, Kayden and Bradley Lahr, Hunter Reynolds, Parker Calderon, Bentley Reynolds, Penelope Adams, Avery Calderon, Emelia Jackson, Maeve Jackson, Quentin Brown, and Anika Jacobs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Blanche Hoeness; her husband, Larry; her daughter, Vicki Stanford; and sister, Virginia Reed.
Above all else, Twyla loved her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose love and guidance will continue to be felt for generations to come.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 18th, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. Burial will follow at the Winterset Cemetery.
