Twila Rose Seibert, 87, passed away Friday, January 2, 2026, at Holland Farms Senior Living, Norwalk, IA. Twila was born June 21, 1938, in Des Moines, IA, to Clarence Edward and Ida Mae (Cone) Seibert. She was a baptized and confirmed member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Grimes.
Twila graduated from Grimes High School, Grimes IA, in 1956. After high school, she worked full time and put herself through college, graduating from Drake University in 1965.
Twila was a sixth-grade language arts and reading teacher for Winterset Community Schools, beginning at Scott School in 1965. She led an after school Creative Dramatics club for middle schoolers. She remained with the Winterset School District for 35 years, retiring in 2000.
Twila became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church when she moved to Winterset. She gave many years of humble service teaching adult Bible studies, serving on the Altar Guild, directing the Pool of Siloam, and supporting ELCA missions. For the Winterset Community, Twila served on the Chaplaincy program as a volunteer at all the nursing homes, was a Crisis Line counselor, and was a member of the Madison County Women's Giving Circle.
Twila is survived by her sister Della (Larry) Burgus, Ankeny, IA; nephews: Andrew (Patricia) Burgus, Arlington Heights, IL; and Aaron (Keegan) Burgus, Lamoine, ME, and extended family.
Twila was preceded in death by her parents; sister Patricia Callison, nephew Patrick Callison, brother and sister-in-law Darryl (Linda Davidson) Seibert.
Remaining in service to others even upon her death, Twila donated her body to the University of Iowa for medical research.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 9, at 2:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Winterset. The service will be live streamed and recorded on St. Paul Winterset YouTube.
