Thanh Tran Minh Bui

Thanh Bui, 46, of Des Moines, IA, passed away on September 12, 2024. Born on February 10, 1978. Thanh graduated from Roosevelt High School and furthered his education at the University of Iowa and Barber College. He was a superior barber, a profession through which he touched the lives of many in his community.

Thanh was a man who wore his heart on his sleeve and found his greatest joy in life through his services and time spent with his children. He is remembered for his love for football Sundays, social gatherings with friends, and his unwavering commitment to being the best father possible.

He is survived by his son, Austin Small; daughter, Kaili Bui; step son Preston Small; mother, Dao Trân; brother, Minh Bui (Thao Ta); niece Kimberly Bui; nephew Steven Bui; and his forever love, Amanda Small. Thanh was preceded in death by his father, Mǒt Bui; sister, Hoa Thi Trân Bui; and brothers, Túong Công Trân Bui and Dung Ngoc Trân Bui.

A Buddhist Service to honor Thanh's life will be 8:30 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2024 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Urbandale. A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a witness of cremation to follow at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Thanh's life was a testament to the power of caring and community, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
