Susan Maureen Pendegraft

Susan Maureen (Andrews) Pendegraft, 71 died at her home in Des Moines on Sunday, March 9, 2025, with her husband Mike, at her side.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with her visitation one-hour prior beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Perry Chapel. Interment will be in Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Suncrest Hospice. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.caldwellparrish.com.

She was born in Perry on October 26, 1953, to parents Howard and Kathleen (Turner) Andrews of rural Minburn. She grew up on the farm and graduated from Central Dallas High School, Class of 1971. She was involved in basketball, softball, and band.

She initially trained as an operating room tech at DMACC and later earned her Registered Nurse Degree in Illinois. She worked in the medical field all her working life.

She married Michael Pendegraft on April 25, 1998. They were married for 27 years. Susan is survived by her husband Mike; step-children: Steven Pendegraft, Carrie Pendegraft, and Scott (Heather) Pendegraft; 7 step-grandchildren; siblings include her brothers: John (Susan) Andrews of Perry, IA, David (Kim Heiland) Andrews of Perry, IA, and sister, Diana (Tim) Shehan of Boone, IA; aunt, Dottie Hill; special cousins: Rosanne Gull and Jeannie Stall; nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins.

Susan enjoyed attending car shows and the Iowa State Fair with Mike, riding RAGBRAI a few times, telling stories, walking at Big Creek and Merle Hay Mall, camping, reading in her sunroom, and caring for her pets when they were a big part of her life. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her knew she was full of fun and laughter.
