Susan Hamilton

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. A visitation will be held 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2012 at the funeral home, with family present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Peru Cemetery. Memorials to the family will be appreciated. Susan Mary Johnson was born September 2, 1956 in Winterset, Iowa; the daughter of William and Dorothy (Compton) Johnson. Her marriage to Ed Hamilton took place on March 5, 1984 in Elk Point, South Dakota. Susan was a homemaker. She also cleaned houses and was a care taker for many years. She enjoyed fishing, mushrooming, camping and 4-wheeling. Susan died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at her home. She was 55. Susan is survived by her husband, Ed of Peru; two sons, Frank (Nina) Burkett of Germany and Jesse Hamilton of Peru; siblings, Ben (Terri) Johnson of Winterset, Gloria (Kip) Stadtlander of Van Meter, and Sandy Johnson of Winterset; in-laws, T.J. and Marilyn Hamilton of Peru; a brother-in-law, David Moore of Boone; four grandchildren, James, Joseph, Paige Burkett, and Jaxson Jones and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Krista Hamilton; and a sister, Bonnie Moore.
