Summer was born July 17, 1980, in Des Moines, IA, to Edward and Gina (Harvey) McNair. She graduated from Van Meter High School in 1998 and later attended Des Moines Area Community College, where she earned a degree in Biotechnology. During high school, you could often find Summer on the sidelines, cheering on her school’s sports teams.
Summer worked for the family business, McNair Geothermal Well Drilling, for many years as a secretary. She later worked at Kemin Industries in the quality control department.
Family meant everything to Summer. She was an incredible mother and would go to the ends of the earth for her children. She coached girls’ little league teams and never missed an opportunity to support her kids in their activities and endeavors. After her mother, Gina, passed in 2021, Summer took on the role of carrying on the tradition of cooking chicken and noodles.
She lived life actively and made friends wherever she went. Many said she helped them become a better version of themselves. Summer loved deeply and lived fully. After moving to Branson in August of 2025, Summer made an immediate and meaningful impact on those around her. The American Legion became one of her favorite places — you could almost always find her there playing pool, line dancing, and striking up friendships wherever she went. She enjoyed playing volleyball, board and card games, reading, and singing at the top of her lungs. She also took great pride in her beloved dog, Hoss.
She will be truly missed by her four children; Kaleala (Carter) Bridges of Galena, MO, Wade Van Genderen of Waukee, IA, Kayden Van Genderen of Kimberling City, MO, Noblelea Van Genderen of Kimberling City, MO, one granddaughter, Rowan Bridges, four siblings; Dominique McNair, Joshua McNair, Landon (Amber) Toney, Jacob McNair, many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Brandon McNair.
