Steven Donnelly

Steven Joseph Donnelly, 67, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Steven was born on April 30, 1958, in Des Moines, Iowa to Dwain Joseph and Ruth Cecilia Donnelly.

Steven was a pillar of strength and courage. For those fortunate enough to know him, he taught the true meaning of love, compassion and empathy. Through his example, we learned how to meet life's challenges with understanding, awareness and unwavering advocacy for others.

His deep love for God, music and a playful spirit - nurtured by his parents and shared with his siblings and friends - was a constant source of joy and inspiration.

Steven will be dearly missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his sisters, Mary Lee Donnelly-Glumac (Michael), Patricia Van Veen, Ann Marie Donnelly and brother, David Donnelly (Jan); as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwain and Ruth; sister, Carol Ann Donnelly; and his nephew, Robert Joseph Hukill.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held for family with interment to follow at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to EveryStep Kavanagh House Hospice, Des Moines.
