Shirley Andrews

Shirley P. Andrews, 79, of Des Moines passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on September 19, 2017 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Grimes, followed with a social time with family and friends. Burial will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Melbourne, IA. Shirley was born in Dallas Center, on the family farm to Arthur P. and Dorothy (Edgerton) Knoll on June 15, 1938. She married Thomas Andrews of Melbourne, IA on October 18, 1959. She graduated from Broadlawns Polk County Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a nurse with Marshalltown Hospital. Shirley and Tom had three children, Jim, Jeri and Janelle. Shirley is survived by her brother, Robert F. (Kay) Knoll of Dallas Center, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Dorothy; stepmother, Alberts (Knight); brothers, Dale and David; husband, Tom; children, Jim, Jerri and Janelle; and significant friend, Clarence (Rusty) Bish. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Taylor House Hospice of Des Moines.
