Shawn Michael Engleton

Shawn Engleton, 62, passed away at Taylor House Hospice on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

He was born on May 23, 1964, to Terre and Julia (Keplinger) Engleton in Decatur, IL. Shawn grew up in Decatur and attended MacArthur High School where he graduated in 1982. Following high school, he attended the University of Missouri at Rolla where he studied Chemical Engineering.

Shawn loved being outdoors! He was an avid Boy Scout, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, canoeing, and anything that would take him exploring in nature. Shawn was an incredibly hard worker, often working several jobs or extra hours to help others. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and love of classic comedy like the Three Stooges.

Those left to cherish Shawn's memory include his Stepmother, Mary Engleton, of Decatur, IL; brother, Jeffrey Engleton of San Jose, CA; stepsister, Julie Benitez of Hudson, IL, and her daughters, Sophia and Lilly; stepbrother, Jeffry Rhineheart of Bend, OR; Uncle Michael (Kathy) Engleton of Chicago, IL; Aunt, Laura Keplinger (Mike Lorano) of Palmer, TX; Aunt, Thelma Engleton of Spokane, WA; several cousins and many other extended family and friends.

Shawn was preceded in death by his parents Terre and Julia Engleton, grandparents, and aunts and uncles.

There will be a private family burial at a time and place to be determined. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Boy Scouts of America in loving memory of Shawn.
