Sharon Gibson

Sharon Lee Gibson was born in Warren County, Iowa on August 17, 1941, the daughter of Lyle Young and Delores (Smith) Young. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1959. She was united in marriage to Fred Lee Gibson on August 12, 1960, at Center Chapel Methodist Church in Warren County, Iowa.

Sharon was a full-time farm wife and Avon lady for over 40 years. She worked at the Winterset Community School District as a lunch lady for 20 years. When she retired, she enjoyed selling Avon, working in her flower gardens for relaxation, quilting for fun, spending time playing cards with the card ladies, spending time with family, entering crafts and flowers in many Madison County Fairs. She loved the Lord and attended the First United Methodist Church in Winterset regularly. She volunteered at the church serving in many capacities.

Sharon passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at the Azria Nursing Home in Winterset. She was 84. Her family loved her more than words could possibly express and she will live on in their hearts forevermore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Gibson; her son John Gibson; her parents Lyle and Delores Young; brother Kenny Young; brother Gene Young; brother Donald Young; brother Roy Young.

Left to celebrate her memory are her daughters, Suzanne (Kirk) Wagner and Melinda (Rod) Horn; and 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 am, with burial to follow at the Winterset Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Winterset and/or Suncrest Hospice.
