Ruby Robinson, 91, of Winterset, Iowa, passed away Friday, October 2, 2026 at Azria Health, Winterset.

Ruby Jean Leeper was born at home in rural Madison County, Iowa on May 23, 1935, to Lloyd and Faye (Nolte) Leeper. She attended Jackson No. 2 through the fourth grade and after the school closed, she continued her education in Earlham, graduating from Earlham High School with the Class of 1953.

Following high school, Ruby began working for NWB as a telephone operator in Winterset. On November 22, 1953, she married Wayne Robinson. Together, they were blessed with two children, Dianne Kay and Douglas Wayne.

Ruby stayed home while her children were young and later returned to NWB. During her career, she was promoted to a management position. She retired in 1990 after 28½ years of service.

Ruby was an active member of the First Christian Church, where she served in many capacities over the years, including as a Sunday school teacher, deacon and elder.

Ruby is survived by her children, Dianne (Joel) Henke of Winterset and Douglas (Teresa) Robinson of Cedar Rapids; along with her grandchildren, Andrew (Breanne) Robinson and Amber (Richie) Abima; great-grandchildren, Cohen, Harvard and Merritt; sister-in-law, Shirley Leeper of Earlham; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; and her parents, Lloyd and Faye Leeper; and siblings, Mildred, Evelyn, Harold, Richard, Russ, and Irene.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 12, 2026 at the First Christian Church in Winterset, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Winterset Cemetery. 

Memorials may be directed to the First Chirstian Church.
