Rory Henry

Rory Henry, 62, of Winterset, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 13, at the funeral home, with Pastor Scott O'Conner officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be made to his family for a future designation.

Rory Lance Henry was born November 19, 1961, in Winterset, Iowa, the son of Russell and Jane (Buck) Henry. After graduating from Winterset High School in 1981, he went on to barber school at the American College of Hairstyling. He owned his own barber shops in Winterset and Greenfield and had also worked in Adel and Des Moines for a time. On July 1, 1995, Rory and Angela Smith were married in Van Meter, Iowa.

In his younger years, Rory was a member of the Winterset Saddle Club, and participated in team roping; he always enjoyed horses. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and attending his son's and nieces' and nephews' sporting events. Rory never knew a stranger, and could talk with anyone about anything. He was blessed with the "gift of gab."

Survivors include his wife, Angela Henry; mother, Jane Henry; son, Alex Smith (Justine); brothers, Rusty (Teresa) Henry and Randy (Paige) Henry; grandsons, A.J. Smith and Gage Fisher; mother-in-law, Ann Brunsmann; brother-in-law, Rod (Beth) Smith; and sister-in-law, Tammy (Rusty) Meyer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Henry, Sr.; grandparents, Edwin and Ruth Henry; uncles, Carl, Edwin, and Donnie Henry; and grandmother, Ruby Binder.
