Ronnie Bane

Ronald Lee "Ronnie" Bane, 69, passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2026, following a tragic farming accident at the farm he loved so dearly. He was born on December 29, 1956, in Reno, Nevada, to Jerry Lee and Wanda Lucille (Davis) Bane.

Ronnie and his twin brother, Randy, made their entrance into the world, joining their one-year-old sister, Theresa (Terri). Ronnie arrived five minutes before Randy and never missed an opportunity to remind everyone that he was the older twin. Following Jerry's service in the United States Air Force, the family moved to Winterset, Iowa, where Ronnie was raised. He attended Winterset Community Schools and graduated with the Class of 1975. He later attended Southwestern Community College, majoring in Building Trades, before beginning a career that reflected his strong work ethic and craftsmanship.

Ronnie spent more than 35 years as a residential framer in the Des Moines area. He took tremendous pride in the homes he helped build, knowing they would provide memories for countless families. After decades of hard work, he often joked that "framing was for young people," so he made a career change and became a truck driver for Crete Carriers. He spent the next 10 years traveling the country before retiring. Along the way, he formed many lasting friendships, including one with Mike Adamson, whom he spoke of often.

Of all the roles Ronnie held throughout his life, being a father was one of his greatest joys. He treasured each of his children—Justin, Heather, Chance, and Colton—and carried them with him throughout his life. His family always held a special place in his heart.

Another lifelong passion was rodeo. For many years, Ronnie traveled the rodeo circuit competing in saddle bronc riding, embracing the adventure and friendships that came with the sport.

On July 1, 2000, Ronnie married Donna Pfander in Bedford, Iowa. Through their marriage, Ronnie proudly welcomed Donna's children, Bryan and Kerri, into his family. Together, Ronnie and Donna shared a love of traveling, with South Dakota holding a special place in their hearts. They enjoyed taking their horses to ride through the beautiful Black Hills and also made many treasured trips to Las Vegas, Florida, to visit family, and Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. Ronnie especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and activities. He was proud to cheer them on from the sidelines and treasured every opportunity to spend time with his family.

Left to cherish Ronnie's memory are his wife, Donna Bane; his children, Justin (Tamara) Bane of Winterset, Iowa, and Colton (Elizabeth) Bane of Des Moines, Iowa; his stepson, Bryan Pfander of Des Moines, Iowa; and his stepdaughter, Kerri (Jason) Sargent of Bedford, Iowa; his grandchildren, Tyler Sargent, Tage (Emily) Kaldenberg, Jensen Kaldenberg, Camryn Pfander, Ty Bane, Brynlee Sargent, Stevie Pfander, Lane Pfander, Eli Bane, and Ellieana Bane; his great-grandchildren, Warren Kaldenberg, Athena Kaldenberg, and Elliston Kaldenberg; his sister, Theresa (Michael) Fulton of Tampa Bay, Florida; his sister-in-law, Vickie Backhus of Centennial, Colorado; his brothers-in-law, Dean (Sue) Rowe of Bedford, Iowa, Jim (Julie) Rowe of Bedford, Iowa, Roger Poore of Clarinda, Iowa; his uncle, Winky Bodwell of La Belle, Missouri; his aunts, Shirley Henry of Winterset, Iowa, and Betty Niblo Grandfield of St. Charles, Iowa; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Heather; his son, Chance; his parents, Jerry and Wanda Bane; his parents-in-law, Wilbur Rowe and Patsy Rowe; his twin brother, Randy; his sister-in-law, Debbie Poore; his niece, Christine; and several cherished aunts and uncles.

Ronnie will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic and deep love for his family. Whether he was building homes, driving the open road, riding horses through the Black Hills, or proudly sitting in the stands cheering on his grandchildren, he found joy in life's simple moments. His memory will continue to live on in the stories shared, the homes he helped build, and the family he loved so deeply.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 6, 2026, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. A visitation will be held prior, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Winterset Cemetery.
