Ronald Brittain

Ronald Eugene Brittain, age 71, of Des Moines, formerly of Virginia, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2022, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home – McCalley Chapel in Adel, with burial following at North McDonald Cemetery, rural Winterset. Family will greet friends on Thursday, March 10th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Ron was born on March 13, 1950 to Eugene and Lola Mae (Baumgardner) Brittain. He graduated from Waukee High School in 1968, then enlisted in the US Army, where he was an MP. He had a tour of duty to Korea on the DMZ line, and two tours of duty to Germany. He retired after 25 years from the Army, then going to Langley AFB, Virginia, where he worked for Lackeed Martin. Ron is survived by his children, daughters Bobbi Jo (Richard) Farley of Virginia and Rachael Brittain of Newport News, Virginia, and son Andrew (April) Brittain of Colorado; four grandchildren; his mother Lola Brittain of Waukee; four brothers, Steve (Pam) Brittain of Dallas, TX, Randy Brittain of Adel, Michael Brittain of Woodward, and David (Kandi) Brittain of Granger; two sisters Cheryl (Roger) Thompson of Des Moines and Shirley Sevde of Waukee, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Eugene Brittain. Memorial contributions may be made to the Puppy Jake Foundation – Service Dogs for Veterans.
