Robin Renée Leaper

Robin Renée (Quinn) Leaper, age 54, of Norwalk, Iowa passed away after her courageous three-year battle with ALS on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at home, surrounded by her children and parents.

Robin was born on October 18, 1971, in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert and Marcia (Logan) Quinn.

She graduated from Dowling Catholic High School, earned a Bachelor of Science in Recreation from Northwest Missouri State University, and later received a Master of Science in Education from Drake University. While at Drake, Robin served as the Graduate Assistant of Facilities and Aquatics.

Robin began her professional career at Kansas State University as the Assistant Director of Aquatics and Building Operations, overseeing the Recreation Complex and Natatorium. She continued her career with the City of Des Moines, where she served for 18 years as the Park & Recreation Supervisor of Special Events and Aquatics. In this role, she directed the operations of Nitefall on the River, the Mayor's Annual Ride for Trails, and five aquatic facilities throughout the city. She later became the Director of Parks & Recreation for the City of Norwalk, where she oversaw the successful integration of the Norwalk Fieldhouse and helped connect Norwalk to the Great Western Trail through community trail development. Among her many achievements and honors, Robin was recognized as the 2024 Citizen of the Year for her leadership and lasting impact on the Norwalk community.

Robin enjoyed traveling and exploring different countries with her children. She had a deep love for the outdoors and hiking, as well as a passion for soccer that began during her twin sons' decades of playing the sport and continued through her daughter's involvement. She was extremely proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed all the traditions especially watching Irish dancing. Robin also enjoyed cooking, trying new recipes with her children, and hosting family game nights.

Robin was a person of tremendous compassion, a quality reflected in her extensive volunteer work through her church and community, as well as her advocacy for ALS. Her kindness, generosity and commitment to making a difference touched countless lives and leaves a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Robin is survived by her children, Keegan Leaper, Kasey Leaper, and Ava Mooers; her parents, Robert and Marcia Quinn; her siblings, Robert Quinn II and Megan Quinn; her nephew, Logan Quinn; and her great-nephew, Kolton Lampman. She was preceded in death by her nephew, Travis Quinn.

A visitation will be held at St. John's Catholic Church on Monday, July 27, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 28, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, it was Robin's request that memorial donations in support of ALS be made to Rockin' with Robin, c/o City State Bank.
