Pennee Lee Nelson

Pennee L. Nelson, 71, passed away May 30, 2016 at Urbandale Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial al Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Pennee was born December 1, 1944 to Mary Olive and Edward Fitzgerald Jr. (a WW II casualty). She was a Special Education Teacher at several school districts including Adel, Dallas Center and Des Moines. Pennee loved horses, dancing, photography and her artwork. She was a joyful bundle of energy and comedic talent and will be greatly missed by those who were lucky enough to know her. She is survived by a son, Lee W. Nelson of Adel, and a sister, Michele Leon Fritz of Phoenix, Arizona. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Parkinson’s Foundation. Online condolences may be left on this site.
