Wimp was born on July 23, 1934, in Decatur County, Iowa, the son of Pearl Sr. and Mary (Teale) Wiley. He graduated from Leon High School with the Class of 1953, where he was active in FFA.

On July 26, 1953, Wimp married the love of his life, JoAnn Jeffs, in Winterset, Iowa. Together, they built a beautiful life and were blessed with three children: Debbie, Tena, and Brent.

Wimp worked the land with dedication and pride. Even after retiring from full-time farming, he continued to stay busy working at Mark Seed Company in Perry and with U-Haul. Working was his passion, never liked to sit still and always gave his best effort, never once complaining of being tired.

Wimp loved to fish, especially on trips to Canada, and he enjoyed traveling, managing to visit all 50 states. He was a talented handyman and woodworker, always ready to lend a hand to neighbors and friends who needed something fixed. After finishing his own fields, he was known to help others with theirs until everyone was done.

He was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Waukee, where he nurtured a strong faith that guided him throughout his life. He will be remembered as a kind, hardworking, and soft-spoken man who always put others before himself. Above all, Wimp was proudest of his family, whom he loved deeply.

Wimp is survived by his wife of 72 years, JoAnn Wiley of Adel; children Debbie (Bob) Slater of Waukee, Tena (Steve) McNeal of Waukee, and Brent (Debbie) Wiley of Clive; grandchildren Brandon Scheel, Justin Scheel (Daniel), Allison (Regan) Grettenberg, Cassie (Alex) Miller, Derrick (Claire) Wiley, and Trevor Wiley; step-grandchildren Casey (Chelsea) Slater and Kelly Slater (Chris); eight great-grandchildren with two more on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl Sr. and Mary Wiley; siblings Willa Marie Farrell, James Wiley, Peggy Sandage, Jack Wiley, and Arthur Wiley; and granddaughter-in-law, Jasmynne Scheel.
