Patricia Lynn Trotter

Patricia Lynn Trotter, 78, passed away in the arms of her husband of 58 years on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Bickford Senior Living in Urbandale. Patricia was born July 9, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Winston G. Holley and Mary B. (Pinnick) Holley. She was one of 10 siblings.

Patricia and Jim Trotter were married June 3, 1967, in Des Moines, Iowa at St. Ambrose Cathedral. Their courtship began in 1965, when they were introduced by friends of Jim while he was home on leave from the Navy. Their connection was immediate and resulted in 58 years of marriage and two children, Christopher Trotter and John Trotter.

Patricia's mission in life was to provide a helping hand to anyone in need. She truly loved her children and grandchildren, and all her extended family with all her heart and soul.

Patricia was employed for many years in the financial field. She was the first civilian to manage the Des Moines Police Officer Credit Union and later served as a loan officer for the Polk County School Employees Credit Union.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Jim; sons, Christopher (Karen) Trotter of Bondurant and John Trotter. She is also survived by her Grandchildren, Avery Trotter of Colorado, Regan Trotter of Iowa City, Brett Hudson, and Matt Hudson, both of Bondurant; sisters, Barbara Weston of Des Moines and Roberta Vantrees of Pembroke Pines, Florida. Patricia is also survived by many, many nieces, nephews and her cousins, all of whom were very important to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Winston and Mary Holley, her Grandparents, John and Lillian Pinnick and Hazel Holley; her brothers, Robert Holley, Ronald Holley, Thomas Holley and her, sisters, Elizabeth Holley, Shirley Turnipseed, Beverly Holley and Christina Karns.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at St. Pius X Catholic Church (3663 66th St, Urbandale, IA 50322) at 10:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:30. Memorial contributions can be made to the Des Moines Area Religious Council Food Pantry.
