Our beloved Olygie passed away, Friday, November 28th, 2025 at 11:15am at Methodist West in Des Moines, Iowa. She was 62. Born May 11, 1963 in Evansville Indiana.
Her parents are Robert Blades, 85 years old, and Judy Blades, deceased May 11, 2019. She came to Iowa with her family at the age of 12, and spent her childhood years growing up in Cambridge, Iowa, as a Ballard Bomber.
There were many different career paths involving the food industry, UPS and Quick Trip to name a few. Her last 23 years were spent as a Licensed Massage Therapist at Blades Massage & Wellness with her sister as her partner. Olygie thoroughly enjoyed helping people both physically and mentally. There was a kindness about her, and a positive attitude, that rubbed off on those she helped and anyone who was around her.
Spending time with her family and friends was very important to her. We hope no one holds it against her - she was a Denver Broncos fan. Christmas music and Hallmark movies were the best for her, so when she was resting in the hospital bed, we had both the music and TV playing for her.
She left a big footprint on so many hearts. SHE WILL BE MISSED! There will be a celebration of life after the new year. No date yet, but it will be in February. We know there will be people traveling and need adequate time to make plans, we will pick that date and get it out with enough notice. Stay tuned.
Here are the details for Olygie’s celebration of life: Saturday, February 7, 2026 Noon - 4 pm come and go at your convenience. There will be food & beverages 6031 Meadow Crest Drive Johnston Iowa 50131. We want to celebrate the legacy that Olygie leaves behind. I will start, Did you know that Olygie was a gym rat in her younger years. In my opinion, she could have competed. (the pictures say it all) The only issue for her was, wait for it….. She liked her food/sweets. I think we can all agree that Olygie had a sweet tooth.
If you would like to share an Olygie story with others, please send it to bladesmassage23@gmail. We will print them off for everyone to read that day. If you have pictures, send with email or text to 515-331-1239. Please put your name or initials too it is your choice. ~Silla
