Nellie Bindel, 93, of Winterset, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Azria Health of Winterset.
Nellie A. (Clements) Bindel was born October 11, 1932, in Greeley, Colorado to Oran Sr. and Lula Clements.
The marriage ceremony of Nellie and Walter F. Bindel took place on September 26, 1953, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. She remained a member of the church for nearly 72 years.
She worked for Madison County Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s aide for 30 years. Her hobbies included gardening, shopping, and baking. She also enjoyed bird watching and especially enjoyed time with her family and friends. She was a long-time resident of Winterset.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; son, Phillip; son-in-law, Steve; and 8 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Patty Ashbaugh and Christy Brittain (Mark); son, Tom Bindel (Lisa); daughter-in-law, Julie Bindel; her sisters, LaVonne, Ruth, and Bev; and her brother, Fred. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amy, Kimberly, Daniel, Tommy, Dorothy, Erin, Sean, Brooke and Skylar; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Ethan, Kelly, Grant, Autumn, Savannah, Liam, Patti, Maci, Abel, Braylee, Dawson and Cora.
The Visitation will be Friday, November 28, 2025, from 5-7:30 p.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Winterset. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. A private family burial will be held at the Winterset Cemetery.
Memorials made to the family will be used for a future designation.
