Mildred May Kirk

Mildred May Kirk passed away at age 97 on May 10, 2017 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2017 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial at Masonic Cemetery near Dallas Center. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the services. She was born May 20, 1919, in Corwith, Iowa to the Reverend Judd and Dora Bogard. Mildred graduated from North High School in Des Moines. She married Castle (Tom) Kirk and the couple moved to Adel. They had one daughter, Susan. Mildred worked at Meredith Publishing Company as a paralegal and later as Administrative Assistant to Ted Meredith and Bob Burnett. Mildred retired from Meredith after approximately 35 years of service. She deeply loved the years she spent at Meredith. Mildred has lived at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center for the past 5 years. The respect, comfort and loving care she received there was exemplary. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, 7 siblings and husband, Castle (Tom) Kirk. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Susan (Bob) Walker; grandson, Steven (Jackie) Luther and three great-grandchildren, Connor (fiancé Brianna Wallace), Kylee and Kennedy Luther, all residing in Adel. Mildred also has two step grandchildren, Ryan (Jenny) Walker and Angie (Stuart) Mincy and 6 step great-grandchildren, Bailey, Brittney and Barrett Walker, and Hannah, Shelby and Madison Mincy.
