Michael Teno

Michael Richard Teno, 85, of Winterset, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, at his daughter's home in Indianola.

Michael was born on October 18, 1940, in Monroe County, Iowa, the son of Mike and Ann (Popson) Teno. He graduated from Melrose High School in 1958 and was united in marriage to Jean Lewis on November 28, 1964, in Melrose, Iowa.

Agriculture was the focus of Michael's career. Over the years, he farmed, managed feedlot and cattle operations, partnered in farming ventures, and later worked in feed sales. He also worked at the Peru Post Office.

Michael was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a Third Degree Knight of Columbus. His love of agriculture carried over to his hobby of gardening. This was where he spent time relaxing and enjoying growing vegetables.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Kevin Teno of Norwalk; daughter, Marla (Tim) Capps of Indianola; five grandchildren, Kenzie and Brandon Teno, and Mason, Chantal, and Cedric Capps; his great-grandson, Hudson Capps; brothers, Bob, Tom, and Dave; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; his parents, Mike and Ann Teno; his sister, Dorothy Kurimski; and his daughter-in-law, Diane Teno.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. A vigil service will begin at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 18, at the church. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery in Albia.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a future designation.
