Michael Joseph Emberlin

Michael Joseph Emberlin, 28, of Des Moines passed away on December 23, 2017 from a Heroin Overdose. He is preceded in death by his father, Michael Anthony Calaro who died tragically in a car accident on January 13, 1989. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Christ the King Parish in Des Moines, with a visitation held an hour prior to the mass in the Parish hall. Michael is also preceded in death by 13 of his friends who also lost their life to the opioid epidemic. He is survived by his parents, Sandy and Shane, Joe and Dina, his brother Zach, and childhood best friend, Michael Miller, who loved him like a brother, and many loving friends and family. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Gregory Retreat Center, St. Jude Children Hospital, or to the family to be used for funeral expenses. The family request to please not send roses.
