Michael Frederick Weitenhagen

Michael Frederick Weitenhagen, 71 of Urbandale passed away on March 30, 2017. A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale. A service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April, 3, 2017 at the church. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery. Michael was born April 1, 1945 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lawrence & Evelyn Weitenhagen. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids and the University of Northern Iowa. Michael served in the United States Air Force. He married Nancy Lowenberg on September 23, 1978. He was a truck underwriter manager for many years before retiring. In his free time, he enjoyed working in genealogy, landscaping, antiquing and spending time with his family, especially his only granddaughter. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and his generous spirit. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Sara (Brad) Deich; and granddaughter, Elyse. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Cheri Tellin. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
