Matthew James Garringer, born July 29, 1984, went home on Thursday, August 8, 2024 after a short illness.
Matt had a profound love of music, cars, video games and nature. He was blessed with a large group of friends who shared his interests, and they spent their youth participating in sound system competitions, working on their cars, and causing all manner of trouble.
Matt's love of nature led him to a career in lawn & landscaping, and ultimately a focus in irrigation. He was one of the first 500 Iowa irrigation specialists to become licensed to service backflow prevention devices, and he had many clients who praised his attention to detail and customer service.
In 2007 Matt met his wife, Amy (McEltree), and they were wed on June 19, 2010. They spent 14 years together building their family and growing their love. They enjoyed fishing and reading together, and they never spent longer than 24 hours apart.
Matt was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Mary Scott; his paternal grandfather, James Garringer; his uncles, William Jr. and Bradley Scott; and his mother, Debra (Scott) Garringer. He is survived by his paternal grandmother, Jeanne Garringer; his father, Daniel (Laurie) Garringer; siblings, Shannon (Amy) Garringer and Nichole Garringer; his wife, Amy; his children, Cameron, Micah, Lily and Nikolai; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
