On October 30th, Mary Nadine Wilgenbush Shutt Fredregill Doughty of Clive, Iowa, passed away peacefully.

A celebration of life will be held at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home 8201 Hickman Rd at 10:00AM to 12:00PM on Monday November 9th. A funeral mass will be Tuesday morning November 10th at 10:00AM at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church, with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery with a luncheon to follow.

Nadine was the sixth of nine children born to Charles and Mary Bell Wilgenbush and was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Church in St. Marys, Iowa. She attended school in St. Marys and graduated as valedictorian in 1959. She later attended Americana Beauty School, completing the program in just 10½ months, and worked at Windsor Salon in Windsor Heights.

In May 1961, she married Jerry Shutt, and together they had three sons. Jerry passed away in October 1970 in a construction accident. Two and a half years later, she married Dwayne Fredregill, who helped raise her three boys and introduced them to water skiing, snow skiing, and many other fun activities. Dwayne passed away in March 1989 from lung cancer.

In November 1991, Nadine married Robert Doughty, JR. Bob, an avid golfer, introduced Nadine to the game, and together they enjoyed playing in many golf tournaments. Nadine had an impressive golfing career, achieving four holes-in-one.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her three husbands; her sisters Charlotte, Donna, and Janet; her nephews Jim, Marty, Kevin and Chris; and her nieces Jeanie, Debbie and Theresa.

She is survived by her three sons: Daniel Shutt (Raquel), David Shutt (Katie), and William Shutt (Shawna). She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Madison Shutt Hoult (Jens), Jacob Shutt (Brooke), Ross Shutt (Gina), Nicole Shutt Hatcher (Miller), Andrew Shutt, Colin Hutchison (Amy), and Amanda Nelson (Justin). And Great Grandchild Anna Grace Nelson.

She is further survived by her siblings: brother John (Karen); sisters Kathy (Jerome), Marrietta, Linda, and Sheila; as well as many dear friends in Florida, Texas, Arkansas, and Iowa.

Nadine loved to read, play cards, dance, and play golf, but most of all she cherished time spent with her family. She will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and the joy she brought to those around her.

We will forever hold dear the image of Grandma Dean, whose prayers of thanks always overflowed into tears before the first plate was passed.
