Susan Kuyper, 84, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, in Des Moines.

Susan was born on January 18, 1942, in Texarkana, Texas, to Tad and Bessie Cunningham. She graduated from All Saints Episcopal School in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and went on to attend Baylor University in Waco, Texas. On February 11, 1962, she married the love of her life, Al Kuyper, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service to others.

A dedicated homemaker, Susan was a talented seamstress who made clothing for herself and her daughters. She was actively involved in her daughters' lives, serving in the PTA and as a Girl Scout troop leader. Susan crafted beautiful nativity scenes and stained-glass artwork. In her free time, she enjoyed playing the banjo and piano.

Faith was the cornerstone of Susan's life. She was a dedicated member of her local Presbyterian Church, where she faithfully served as both an Elder and Deacon. Her service extended throughout the congregation as she managed the youth library, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and helped raise funds for charitable causes. Through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith, she touched the lives of many.

Susan is survived by her beloved husband, Al Kuyper; her daughters, Vicki Weekes (David) and Amy Stockton (Brian); her grandchildren, Vika Weekes, Maya Weekes, Jeff Stockton (Stephanie), and Daniel Stockton; and her great-grandchildren, Carter Stockton and Logan Stockton.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Rodney Dale and Marvin Hogan.

A private interment will take place at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
