Madelyn Mildred Kerns, 68, of Winterset, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at her residence in Winterset. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 6, 2017, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Pastor Jaysson Gurwell officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Madelyn was born on December 4, 1948, at Lake City, Iowa to Herman and Mildred (Strunk) Wenck. She was married in 1968 at Osceola, Iowa, to Russell Kerns. She had lived in the Winterset area for many years and had worked at several local establishments around Winterset during her lifetime. She was an avid bowler. Madelyn is survived by her mother, Mildred (Strunk) Wenck; sons, Scott Kerns of Phoenix, AZ and Marty Kerns of Winterset; siblings, Ellen Bruett of Winterset, Randy Wenck of Bevington, and Lanny Wenck of Winterset; and grandchildren, Faith Kerns and Tate Kerns. She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Wenck; and husband, Russ Kerns. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorials may be directed to her family for a future designation. Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
