On Thursday April 27, 2023, Luke Phillip Bazan was welcomed into heaven.
Luke graduated from Waukee High School in 2020 and Des Moines Area Community College in 2023, earning a degree in Computer Aided Design. He was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity at the University of Iowa, and was employed by Hy-Vee Food Store in Waukee, Iowa.
At age 21, Luke’s time on earth was not nearly long enough. Yet, during his lifetime, his spirit was a bright light to all who had the good fortune to meet him. Luke was a darling little boy who grew to become a wonderful young man. He had a vibrant sense of style, a brilliant smile, and a loving heart for God and his family.
Over the years, Luke enjoyed camping with his Dad while earning his Eagle Scout rank. He often surprised his Mom with a coffee and note, reminding her he loved her. Luke’s bond with his Sister, Madeline, was unshakeable.
Luke’s eyes twinkled over the years when he recounted lighting fireworks with his Papa or digging into Ama’s famous peach pie. He went on road trips with his Aunts and enjoyed trips to the lake with his cousins. Luke was charming and witty. Speaking of wit, Luke and his cousins once set up a lemonade stand, as many children do. Luke though, decided to sell rocks instead of lemonade - rocks he pulled from the neighbor’s landscaping! The most precious part of that day was that Luke’s rock sales exceeded his cousin’s lemonade stand…we know it was due to the twinkle in his eye and that mischievous smile.
Luke was welcomed warmly into Heaven by his Grandfather, Thomas Bazan of Monticello Indiana, and will be missed everyday by his Father, Phillip Bazan, his Mother, Kelly Gradert Bazan, Sister, Madeline Bazan, his grandparents, Mary Bazan, Richard and Lynda Gradert, his loving Aunts, Uncles, and many partners in crime, also called cousins.
“So you have sorrow now, I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you: John 16:22
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”: Revelation 21:4
