Lori Quang Rasavanh Baccam, 57, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on February 26, 2026.
Visitation will be held at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory (8201 Hickman Rd, Urbandale, IA 50322) on Monday, March 2, at 1:00 PM, with a formal service to follow at 2:00 PM. A celebration of life will be held afterward at Agora Event Center (7692 Hickman Rd, Des Moines, IA 50324).
Lori was born on September 19, 1968, in Vientiane, Laos, and immigrated with her family to Des Moines, Iowa, in 1978, where she built a life defined by resilience, joy, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
The youngest daughter in a family of 10 siblings, Lori grew up surrounded by love and laughter. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1987 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance from the University of Iowa in 1991. She continued her education, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Upper Iowa University in 2010 - a reflection of her drive and determination to keep growing.
On May 8, 1992, she married the love of her life, Viengthong (Thong) Baccam. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on family. Lori was a proud and devoted mother of three daughters, and she lived her life wholeheartedly for her girls. Her pride and joy, there was never a time where she did not brag about them. She never missed a recital, a game, a celebration, or a milestone. Her daughters were her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.
Lori was full of life-the loudest laugh in the room, the first voice you heard at any gathering, and always the last one to leave the dance floor. She was the first face you saw at Aroy Dee Restaurant, where she and Thong spent so many years serving the community with their delicious Pho. She was selfless, fiercely supportive, and deeply loving. She was the "cool aunt," the dependable sister, the loyal friend, and the heartbeat of every family event. If something was happening, Lori was there.
She was also a founding member of the Tai United Foundation, helping raise awareness and promote education about the Tai Dam community among Iowans. Lori was immensely proud of her heritage and instilled that same pride, strength, and cultural love in her daughters. Her latest role at UnityPoint in Patient Access gave her great joy and purpose because she was able to assist more people in the Des Moines community.
Lori became a grandmother to her beloved granddaughter, her "Princess Ellie". Becoming her Nai Nai brought her immeasurable joy. Though her time with Ellie was far too short, Ellie will always know how deeply she was loved.
Lori was preceded in death by her parents, Duc and Gion Rasavanh; her brothers, Thinh and Thanh Quang; and her parents-in-law, Loune and Chap Baccam, and sister-in-law Ting Luu.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Viengthong Baccam; her daughters, Dr. Gabby (Tyson) Unkrich, Selena (Dylan) Menke, and Katerina Baccam; her cherished granddaughter, Ellie Menke; her brother and sisters, Paul (Khamphiou) Pierron, Bounmy (Sai) Ounlokham, Thiene (Pan) Vong, Vilay (Vinh) Nguyen, Viviene (Michael) Lam, Tony Rasavanh; her brothers-in-law Khamphone Baccam, Khampheuy (Bounsoung) Baccam, Khamphoui (Debbie) Baccam, Khamphai Baccam, Khamphuy (Lavanh) Baccam, and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives she touched deeply.
Lori lived boldly, loved fiercely, and gave selflessly. Her laughter, strength, and spirit will echo in the hearts of all who knew her.
