Leonard Lee Vidmar

On August 10, 2025, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Leonard Lee Vidmar, 86, of Urbandale, Iowa, entered into the loving hands of his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Leonard was born on February 20, 1939, in Centerville, Iowa. After graduating from high school, he joined the Cement Finishers Union and took great pride in the many construction projects he helped complete throughout Des Moines and the surrounding areas.

On November 19, 1960, Leonard married his high school sweetheart, Dixie. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and family. A devoted husband and father, Leonard was also an avid outdoorsman and a passionate sports fan—especially of his beloved Kansas City Chiefs.

Proud of his Croatian heritage, Leonard fulfilled a lifelong dream in 2018 by traveling with his family to Croatia, where he visited Fužine, the birthplace of his parents. That journey held deep meaning for him and was one of the highlights of his later years.

Leonard had a generous heart and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He especially cherished time with his grandchildren, attending their events and celebrating their achievements with pride and joy.

Leonard is survived by his loving daughters, Lisa (Jim) Williams and Kim (Paul) Walker; his treasured grandchildren Cody, Bailey, Logan, Taylor, Brooke, Landon, and Cole; and great-grandchildren Chloe, Caden, Beckham, and Bodhi.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dixie, and their son, Chris.

Leonard will be remembered for his strong work ethic, deep faith, unwavering love for his family, and the kindness he showed to all who knew him.

A visitation will be held at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory (8201 Hickman Road, Urbandale) on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A rosary will precede the visitation at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church (3663 66th St, Urbandale) on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Chapel Hill Gardens (4400 Merle Hay Rd, Des Moines)
