Leann M. Stamatelos

Leann M. Stamatelos, 47, of St. Charles, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025. A Celebration of Life for Leann will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Talk Shop Lounge in Saint Charles, Iowa at 3:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions can be made to the family to help offset the cost of final expenses.

Leann was born on April 9, 1978, to Theodore John Stamatelos and Mary Margaret (Kinney) Frye. In high school, she loved playing the flute in the high school band, reading, and participating in the yearbook club. She cherished time spent with friends, looked forward to Friday night games, and found special joy in watching baseball with her family, especially alongside her brother Michael.

As a young woman, Leann and Michael trained horses alongside their late stepfather, Eldon Frye, competing in block and bridle, western, showmanship, halter, and trail classes. She was an active member of 4-H in both Madison and Warren Counties and also enjoyed showing rabbits, a hobby shared with her mother. Leann’s interests were broad and heartfelt.

Leann earned a Bachelor’s degree and pursued a successful career as an accountant, a profession she held with great pride. Additionally, she attended Kirkwood Community College, where she received a degree in Equine Science. Her deep knowledge and passion for horses were truly remarkable, she could expertly recall bloodlines and breeding traits and was devoted to training and showing throughout her life.

She carried a unique presence that made everyone feel truly welcomed and valued. Her heart was as vast and generous as any treasure, overflowing with kindness and selfless care. With open arms, a radiant smile, and a joyful, infectious laugh, her love was freely given, something money could never buy. She accepted people as they were, authentic and real. On difficult days, she was a patient listener, a comforting friend, whether meeting for lunch or simply showing up when needed. No matter where she was or who she was with, Leann left a lasting impression on all she encountered. Her compassion, charisma, kindness, and above all, love, defined her. She gave her whole self wholeheartedly to family and friends alike.

Leann is lovingly remembered by her mother, Mary Frye; brother, Michael (Angela) Frye; nieces, Noel Frye, Kylee Frye, Harlie Frye; nephews, Dylan (Kallie) Kernes, Logan Eganhouse, Caleb Eganhouse, Anthony Frye, and Brandon Frye. She is also survived by her sisters, Traci (Mike) Clausi and Lindsey (Kelly) Brown; stepbrother, Andy Stamatelos; niece, Jenny Mundell; and nephew, Neil Clausi.

She was preceded in death by her father, Theodore John Stamatelos; stepfather, Eldon Frye; and half-sister, Shelly Stamatelos.
