LaVonne Ann Jacobe, a beloved figure known for her unwavering spirit and dedication to her family, passed away on June 21, 2025, in Van Wert, Iowa, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 11, 1954, in Iowa City, Iowa, LaVonne grew to embrace life with a vibrant zest that touched everyone she encountered.

LaVonne's educational journey took her through the schools of Winterset, Iowa, until the 9th grade, where she began to forge the compassionate and nurturing personality that would define her life. Predominantly a homemaker, she excelled in creating a warm and inviting home, nurturing those around her with love and kindness. Her passion for caregiving and her ability to offer a shoulder to lean on made her a cornerstone of support for her family.

Her personality was marked by an uplifting spirit, always radiating positivity and humor. LaVonne was known to be generous, funny, and strong-minded, never hesitating to speak her mind. She infused laughter into her family gatherings, sharing countless jokes that echoed in the hearts of her loved ones.

LaVonne is survived by her children: Lonnie (Jennie) Morris, Victoria (Richard Belden) Jacobe, and Pamela (Patrick) Means. She took immense pride in her grandchildren: Kristina (Ben), Jessika, Kaitlyn, Mariah (DJ), Jonathan, Randell, Jason (Angie), Melissa, and Delani, as well as her 18 great-grandchildren. LaVonne shared a special bond with her siblings, including brothers Lester (Jeanie) Purscell and Leonard (Glenice) Purscell, along with her sister Lois Giles. Her life also touched many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie Dow and Leota Leugean (Heath) Purscell; her son, Christopher Lee Jacobe; her sisters Linda and Loretta; her brothers LaVern, Lorn, Butch, and Leon Purscell; and a niece, Loretta Lynn. Each of these family members held a cherished place in her heart, as she carried their memories forward with love.

The legacy of LaVonne Ann Jacobe will endure through the lives she touched and the memories she created with her joyous spirit, generosity, and care. She will be remembered as a steadfast matriarch who opened her heart and home to all, a legacy that will continue to inspire those she loved.
