Kody William Daniels passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 11th, 2025. We can rejoice in the fact knowing Kody is in heaven, in a renewed & whole body. To know Kody is to love Kody and we all were truly grateful to know and love such a genuine soul.
Kody was born on March 7th, 1993, in Kansas City, Kansas. Throughout his childhood, he loved spending time with friends and family—whether that meant hunting and fishing at turkey and deer camp, playing in the backyard with his two sisters, or running around Turner with his buddies. Kody graduated from Turner High School, then attended John Deere Tech School where he earned his Diesel and Heavy Equipment Certification. He later completed his bachelor's degree at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Over the course of his 10+ year career, Kody worked in multiple divisions at John Deere. Through mutual friends and John Deere, Kody met Sarah. From Memorial Day 2021 onward, they were inseparable. Together they enjoyed countless fishing trips with their dog Gunnar, attending country music concerts, and spending time with friends. Kody and Sarah were married on June 15th, 2024, in Joice, Iowa—a day Kody described as “the best day of his life.” It was a day full of joy and one that will be cherished forever. Kody also had a passion for cooking, whether it was grilling or smoking meats, making his famous cinnamon rolls or Mexican rice, and simply enjoying time with his wife.
Words cannot fully capture the goodness that Kody embodied. He was a man of incredible strength and resilience. Throughout his five-year battle with colon cancer, he never complained, never took out his pain on others, and never lost his sense of humor. He made a lasting impact on his friends, family, and the many doctors and nurses who cared for him. If there’s one quality we all admired most about Kody, it was his unwavering fight and strength. While his time with us feels too short, we are so incredibly blessed to have had him in our lives.
Kody is survived by his beloved wife, Sarah Daniels; his parents, Keith (Kim) Daniels; his siblings, Kayla (Alan) Peterson and their daughters Lena and Runa, and Kai Daniels; his grandparents, Bill (Karon) Botka and Harlin Daniel; his in-laws, Rick (Mary) Orban; and his siblings-in-law, Emily (Reid) Nichols and Nate Orban. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. We remember and honor those who preceded him in death, including his grandmother Charlotte Daniels and other cherished family members.
Psalm 23:1-4
“The Lord is my Shepherd, I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me besides peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to His name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for You are close beside me. Your rod and Your staff protect and comfort me."
