King was born on January 2, 1955, at Dallas County Hospital in Perry, Iowa, the son of Walter “Barney” and Doris “Lucille” (Bartlett) Paschell. He proudly held the distinction of being the first baby born at Dallas County Hospital in 1955. He was raised in the Perry area and graduated from Perry High School with the Class of 1972.

King worked for many years as a grain elevator worker with Cargill until his retirement. He also spent many years helping at Lake Robbins Ballroom and often left behind carvings that family and friends would discover long after he had made them.

King found joy in the simple things in life. He was an avid collector of antiques, treasures, and anything that caught his eye. He enjoyed garage sales, attending junk days, and searching for unique finds. In fact, Junk Days were one of his favorite times of the year. He loved cruising around town in his pickup, checking things out and seeing what was happening around town.

A talented woodworker and woodcarver, King enjoyed creating things with his hands. He loved tinkering with projects, mowing, listening to records, and keeping busy. One of the highlights of his week was hosting Wednesday night “board meetings” with his bicycle club friends, where laughter and camaraderie were always on the agenda.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter “Barney” and Lucille Paschell; and his brothers, Jan Paschell and Tony Paschell.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Walter (Linda) Paschell of Osceola, Leora (Bob) James of Bouton, and Lyn Wilkinson of Bouton; his sister-in-law, Dee Paschell of Bouton; his nieces and nephews, Jeff (Angie) Paschell of Medford, New Jersey, Emily Selsor (John Tidman) of Osceola, Mark (Erin) Paschell of Norwalk, Mike Paschell of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Jesse (Beth) James of Bouton, Jon (Shannon) James of Boone, Jocelyn Kovaleski of Dallas Center, Dustin Wilkinson of Barnum, and Chad (Caroline) Kinkennon of Bouton; along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and friends.
