Kelly Lee Moore

Kelly Lee Moore, age 64, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on January 28, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Kelly was born on March 19, 1961, in Lake City, Iowa, to George and Sarah (Gemberling) Zimmerman. From the very beginning, Kelly had a gentle spirit and a heart for caring for others.

Kelly was united in marriage to Larry Moore, and together they shared 26 years of love, laughter, and partnership. She dedicated her life to healthcare, spending over 35 years as a nurse and more than 6 years as a Director of Nursing at Kennybrook Village in Grimes. Nursing was not just her career-it was her calling. Kelly cared deeply for her patients, coworkers, and the many lives she touched throughout her profession.

Kelly was incredibly creative and found joy in making jewelry. She had a true green thumb and a deep love for flowers, especially Hostas. Music was another passion of hers; she loved playing her guitar and creating beautiful melodies. Jeff Hart and his band were her favorite to groove to. Above all, Kelly had a kind, compassionate soul and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Zimmerman (1968); her mother, Sarah Jean Zimmerman (January 2025); her grandmother, Alice Zimmerman (2002); and her Rottweiler, Angus (January 2025).

Kelly is lovingly survived by her husband, Larry Moore of Ogden; children: Garret (Hayley) Finley of Pennsylvania, Erin Finley of Boone, and Derek (Priscilla) Finley of Des Moines; and her cherished grandchildren: Lillian, Robi, Calvin, and Lukas, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her siblings: Kerry Zimmerman of Ames, Clayton Zimmerman of Sac City, and Grant Meyer of Sac City; many extended family members and dear friends.
