Julé Lee Carrington was born in Denver, CO, on May 17, 1955, to Ed and Polly Temple, joining a family with an older brother, Eric Temple (Mary), a sister, Victoria Temple, and a younger brother to come four years later, David Temple (Jean). A quick note – to explain the dash in her name: her dad had the wild idea that the dash would make a long e sound, which it hardly ever did.
Julé was raised in Littleton, CO, attending Arapahoe High School and graduating in 1974. She attended Ft. Lewis College in Durango, CO, for one year before transferring to the University of Northern Colorado, graduating in 1978. Her first job was in Genoa, CO, teaching third and fourth grade for four and a half years.
She met darling Don at a church tea where Don saw her, but she did not see him. It took four asks before she accepted a date, and they happily married on June 1, 1980. They lived on a ranch in an older house, where Julé remembered snakes coming out of the drains and helping Don pull calves. After moving off the ranch and back to Genoa, she left work to raise their daughters, Kate and Maggie.
She was valiant in moving homes four more times as Don changed jobs, working in South Dakota and Iowa. Julé homeschooled Kate and Maggie for twelve years, both graduating with honors from Carrington Home School. She later hosted beautiful weddings—Kate to Joel in 2004 and Maggie to Josh in 2012. She was a wonderful, loving Grammy to Lydia, Madi, and Nyles Metheny in Corpus Christi, TX, and "Cuddles" to Gideon and Gabriel Franke in Floyd, IA.
The family moved to Ankeny in 2006, where they currently live. Julé also worked supervising and providing expertise to other families who were homeschooled. She worked at Faith Baptist Bible College for seventeen years, enjoying her contacts with students and customers. All who met her said, “She always had a smile for me.”
Julé was a member of Community Baptist Church, serving her Lord and Savior with great honor and privilege. She hosted missionaries and various activities before the new building was constructed. She taught Sunday school for many years and, because she loved holding babies, was frequently found in the nursery.
She praises her sovereign God as she went home to be with Him on May 18, 2025.
Visitation will take place on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Community Baptist Church, located at 4703 N.
