Joseph Guisinger, 81, of Kellerton, passed away at Mercy One Hospital in Des Moines on July 8, 2020. Joe was born on May 15, 1939 to William Virgil “Bill” and Cora Lee Guisinger. He joined the United States Air Force shortly after school. After his time in the military, he was a land surveyor for many years, but eventually settled down as a welder for Pittsburg-Des Moines Steel Co. He married Alice Axtell on July 28, 1990 at the Waukee Baptist Church. Joe was known to be a jack of all Trades. He loved to help out when and wherever he could. He enjoyed volunteering at his local church and at the food pantry. He was a faithful man of God and lived to find peace with the lord. Joe had a love for sports as he watched his beloved Hawkeye football program. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, fishing and being outdoors, especially sitting around the campfire. Joe is survived by his wife, Alice Guisinger; children, Kevin (Lynnette) Guisinger, Cristy Terpstra, and William Scott Guisinger; step-children, Roxanna Baker, and Danielle (Adam) Freeman; sisters, Barbara Booth, and Peggy Bainter; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Cora Lee; brothers, Jerry Guisinger and Norman Guisinger; and sister, Helen Barnes. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, McCalley Chapel in Adel. Funeral service will follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial of the urn will take place at a later date. Due to current CDC guidelines, please follow social distancing requirements. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available on Joe’s Tribute Wall beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in memory of Joe. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.caldwellparrish.com
