It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jonathan David Fox, who tragically lost his life in a house fire on April 14, 2026, at the age of 57.
Jon was born on January 22, 1969, in Des Moines, Iowa, and grew up in Minburn, Iowa. He graduated from Dallas Center-Grimes High School in 1987, after which he worked in Computer Aided Drafting for companies such as DeeZee and Titan Tire. He most recently worked for Van-Wall Equipment in Perry, Iowa.
Jon was passionate about digital creation and restoring old trucks. He spent his free time at home working on his trucks in his shop, with country music blaring in the background. He also loved farming alongside his dad, and living a simple, quiet life on the farm. He looked forward to vacations in Florida, where he could relax and enjoy time with those he loved.
Jon is survived by his father, Ben Fox; his fiancé, Leanna Smith Reams; his sister, Jennifer Fox Ellerman of Goldfield, Iowa; his daughter, Cassidy (Wes) Hammer of Conroe, Texas, and their children, Macey and Braxon; his son, Ben Fox of Dallas Center, Iowa; and his daughter, Jillian Fox of Correctionville, Iowa. He is also survived by Leanna’s sons Casey Hunt and his children Austyn and Hayvn, and Garett Robbins and his children Kaesli and Ryatt. He is survived by his niece, nephew, aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout the United States who will carry his memory forward with love.
Jon was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Kenyon Fox; his grandparents, Bob and Helen Fox, and Lauren and Helen Kenyon; and his friend, Jodi Jensen.
A celebration of life open house will be held on May 1, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. at Dallas Center Library. As we remember Jon, let us focus not on the tragedy of his passing, but the simple joy of his life. May he rest in peace, and may his light continue to shine in the lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Minburn Fire and Rescue Unit. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.caldwellparrish.com.
