John Joseph Patti

John Patti, 44, born in Belmont, MA, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026, with his loving family at his side, following a courageous four-year battle with Central Nervous System (CNS) lymphoma. While cancer became part of his story, it never defined who he was. John will be remembered for his unwavering love of family, quiet strength, quick wit, and ability to find joy in life's everyday moments.

John's greatest blessing was his family. He shared a deep and extraordinary love with his wife, Angie, who was always his North Star. Their marriage was built on unconditional love, respect, and devotion. Together, they faced life's greatest joys and challenges side by side.

Nothing brought John more pride than being Ava, Luca, and Nolan's father. They were his purpose, his greatest adventure, and the reason he fought so hard for four years. He wanted more time to watch them grow, celebrate their milestones, make memories, and simply be their dad. His love for them was limitless.

John is survived by his loving wife, Angie; his children, Ava (12), Luca (10), and Nolan (7); his parents, Frank and Debbie Patti of Belmont, MA; his brother Frank Patti and brother-in-law TJ (Havana and Liliana) of New York City, NY; his sister Shannon Patti; his grandmother, Nonna Rita Patti of Belmont, MA; his in-laws, Don and Kathy Brees of West Des Moines, IA; Jen Tracey and her husband Patrick (Landon, Clara, Kailin) of Waukee, IA; Mike Brees of West Des Moines, IA; Danny Brees and his wife Krissy (Hattie, Shay, and Cecilia) of Lino Lakes, MN; along with many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

John embraced life and loved making memories with the people closest to him. He was a passionate fan of all Boston sports, loved fishing, spending time at the family lake in Wisconsin, traveling, and exploring new places. He treasured family movie nights and enjoyed all kinds of music, often turning an ordinary evening into an impromptu dance party-much to the delight and occasional eye rolls of his children. And, of course, he never missed an opportunity for a good dad joke.

Throughout his illness, John faced every obstacle with determination, courage, and resilience. He never gave up. He fought for his family and for more time with the people he loved. In the end, he was surrounded by the people who meant the most to him and passed peacefully with his family at his side.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) who cared for John throughout his journey, the therapists at On With Life who helped him regain his strength and mobility, and the hospice team at Sacred Encounter who cared for him and his family in his final days. Their exceptional care, compassion, endless love, and unwavering support went above and beyond. They cared for John and supported his entire family during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Their kindness and dedication will never be forgotten.

John's legacy lives on in the love he gave, the laughter he created, and the countless memories he made with his family. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, an extraordinary father, a beloved son, and a loyal friend.

Family will be available during a visitation service at Caldwell Parrish, Urbandale, IA on Thursday, October 8, from 4:30-7:00 pm, with a prayer service beginning at 5:30. A funeral will be held at St. Augustin Catholic Church in Des Moines, IA on Friday, October 9, at 4:00 pm. A dinner will follow the Mass at Blue Compass, 1601 48th St., Suite 100, West Des Moines, IA 50266.
