John was born on December 24, 1945, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Clarence Edward and Lucy Lucille (Sherman) Morman. Following his education, John was drafted into the United States Army, where he served with honor during the Vietnam War. He was inducted on September 13, 1965, and received an honorable discharge on September 5, 1967. John was deeply proud of his service and carried that sense of duty and patriotism with him throughout his life.

On November 11, 1967, John was united in marriage to the love of his life, Linda Patterson, in Jackson, Minnesota. They were blessed with one daughter, Laura. John dedicated 25 years to White Way 66 Service in Perry.

A lifelong car enthusiast, John’s greatest passion was street rods. He was an active member of the National Street Rod Association, Iowa Street Rod Association, Minnesota Street Rod Association, and the Buick Rod and Custom Association. His love for classic cars was more than a hobby, it was a lifestyle.

He also held memberships in the Floyd Foster VFW Post 2060 in Perry, Minburn American Legion Osborne Post #99, and Otley Masonic Lodge #299. He enjoyed going to car shows and watching NASCAR, wrestling, old westerns, and Judge Judy. Above all, he cherished his family. His greatest pride was being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His love for them was unwavering.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Linda Morman of Perry; daughter, Laura Rothmeyer of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren, Alyssa Rothmeyer of Oskaloosa and Zachary Rothmeyer of Knoxville; great-grandson, Paxon Robuck of Oskaloosa; and beloved grand puppy, Bella. He is also survived by his brothers, Clarence (Belinda) Morman of Dawson and Dwayne (Francie) Morman of Perry; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lucy Morman, and siblings: Wesley Sherman, Shirley Hood Anderson, Elizabeth “Toodie” Norem, and Arthur Morman.
