John Bernard McClavy, 66, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2017 surrounded by his family at home. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Thursday, August 31 with a Vigil service following at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Urbandale. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, Friday, September 1 at Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Des Moines. Burial will follow services at Glendale Cemetery. John loved life, anyone who knew him remembered him and knew that faith, family, the Yankees and Hawkeyes were the important things in life. He had a special way of touching your life. He enjoyed everything he did and brought joy and laughter to everyone. John worked at John Deere for 36 years, loved golfing, his "get aways", coaching his kids and spending endless hours with his grandkids. He was a man that lived by his beliefs: always do the right thing, always go to church and always drive a Chevy. "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal." John is survived by his wife, Terri; daughter, Jodi Cooper; sons, Buck (Heather Tew) McClavy; Brett (Nicole) McClavy and Matt (Keesha) McClavy; grandchildren, Jake Cooper, Skylar Tew, Corbin McClavy, Lucy McClavy and Suzy McClavy; mother, Mildred McClavy and 7 sisters. He was preceded in death by his father, John “Jack” McClavy. Memorial contributions may be given to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
