The world lost a bright light when Jodi Carlisle left us on September 27, 2025. She passed in the peace of her own home, held in the love of her family, after courageously fighting pancreatic cancer.

Jodi Carlisle was born on December 26, 1963, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Kathleen Roselle Hohenberger and Frank Leroy Comes, and cared for as well by her stepfather, Jim Hohenberger. She grew up with her siblings - Jeff Comes, Jill (Roger) Myers, John (Terri) Hohenberger, and James (Theresa) Hohenberger, whose bond with her remained a source of love and strength throughout her life.

She attended the University of Northern Iowa, where she met her soon-to-be husband, Scott Carlisle, and graduated with a PR/Marketing degree in 1987. On August 13, 1988, Jodi married Scott, and together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and devotion to family. Jodi loved to travel with family and friends. She especially loved the ocean, where she found joy in soaking up the sun. It was her place of renewal, a reminder of the beauty and expanse of life itself.

She worked with Bankers Life and Casualty for 38 years, where her kindness, dedication, and genuine care for others left a lasting impact on colleagues and clients alike.

Jodi's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her husband of 37 years and their two children, Austin and Aly, who were the light of her life. Her love for her children and family was fierce and unwavering, and she poured that same boundless love into all who were fortunate enough to know her. To be in her presence was to feel seen, cherished, and uplifted.

Jodi will be remembered as the kindest, courageous, most generous, and open-hearted woman. She was a remarkable wife, contagiously filled with joy, and the world's best mother. Her legacy of compassion, laughter, and strength will live in the hearts she touched. May she rest peacefully, forever carried in the love of those she leaves behind.

We invite family and friends to join us in honoring and celebrating Jodi's life on Saturday, October 18th, at 11:00 AM at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines. Together we will gather to share memories, reflect on her remarkable spirit, and find comfort in community as we celebrate the love she brought into our lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, in memory of Jodi Carlisle, to support the ongoing fight against pancreatic cancer. Your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated.
