Joan Burns, 85, died Thursday, March 22, 2018. She was born in Storm Lake, IA on June 1, 1932 to Philip and Eleanor Miller. She is survived by daughter, Pamela (Steve) Davis of Urbandale, IA; sons, Thomas of Scottsdale, AZ, James of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her twin sister, Jean Kestel of Ames, IA; sisters, Nancy Greaves of Fairfax, VA, Judy (Jim) Twohig of Jackson, NE; brothers, Robert Miller of Garden City, KS, James (Joy) Miller of Minneapolis, MN, and Tim (Sal) Miller of Cedar Rapids, IA; and brother-in-law, Duane Schimmer She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Burns; first husband, Eugene Schilling; sons, Jeffrey Schilling, John and Joseph Burns; parents; brother, Edward Miller; sister, Marilyn Schimmer; and sister-in-law, Sondra Miller. Visitation will be Monday, March 26, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale, IA. Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities.
