Janie Rangel Bayder, 73, of West Des Moines, Iowa, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on February 15, 2026.
Janie was born on May 9, 1952, in Texas to Moises and Petra Rangel. She was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, where she graduated from Carroll High School. She continued her education at Del Mar College and later attended Christian College in Texas. Later in life, Janie moved to the Des Moines area to be closer to her family.
Janie was a woman of deep faith and unwavering strength. She was a devoted prayer warrior; her love for God guided her daily life. She had a joyful spirit, always quick to make light of things and bring laughter to those around her. Positive, strong, and caring, Janie lived her life with purpose - to serve God, love unconditionally, and care for others.
She especially cherished her time with her grandchildren. Whether it was going to the movies, bowling, taking walks in the park, painting, or simply watching them play, Janie treasured every moment. She loved to sew and crochet and enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to do things for themselves. She instilled the values of kindness, faith, and strength in her children and grandchildren.
Janie is lovingly survived by her daughters, Stephanie and Nicole; her sons, George and Jason; and her cherished grandchildren: Jordan, Kayla, Sofia, Michael, Madelyn, Goku, Malachi, Elijah, and Jeremiah.
