Ida Rachel Guessford Eivins, 92, of Lorimor passed away at the Stuart Community Care Center on Friday, August 7, 2026.

Ida was born on April 5, 1934, to Merlyn and Alice Guessford of Kellogg, Iowa. She graduated from Kellogg High School in 1952 and began doing secretarial work in Des Moines, Iowa.

Ida married the love of her life, Darrell Eivins, on October 30, 1955, and moved to a farm in Madison County, Iowa. Together they had five children: Marlin, Garnet, Alan, Karen and Nona.

Ida was a homemaker. She was a member of the Kasson Friendship Club and was involved in many activities that served the community with bazaars and raffles. After her youngest child graduated, she worked at a bridal shop in Sherwood Forest in Windsor Heights, Iowa, altering wedding gowns. When her grandchildren arrived, she did daycare in her home for them and other families in the neighborhood.

Ida had a passion for knitting. In retirement, she conquered lace knitting and was awarded first place at the Iowa State Fair. She also enjoyed sewing, singing, reading and playing the piano. She loved spending time with friends and family and attending all the big rowdy get-togethers. She never missed an event her children were involved in. In retirement, Darrell and Ida enjoyed traveling and made many trips to Texas visiting family and snowbird friends. She also loved all her cats, too numerous to name.

Ida is survived by her children, Garnet Johnson, Alan Eivins, Karen (Tom) Kalasinsky, and Nona Eivins; daughter-in-law, Ruth Eivins; her grandchildren, Trevor Johnson, Taralyn (Noah) Iseton, Michelle (Travis) West and Michael Eivins; and her great-grandchildren, Sid Johnson, Suri Iseton, Ava West, Sweden Iseton, Sya Iseton, Cecilia West, Theo West and Adalyn Canova.

Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Eivins; her son, Marlin Eivins; her parents, Merlyn and Alice Guessford; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Goldia (Ed) Neveln, Florence (Wilbur) McNichols, Hester (Jerry) Wyatt, Pearl Guessford, and Merna Guessford.
